Large LCD TV at lower resolution gaming....

I'm looking at getting a 1080p TV somewhere between 55" to 63" in the future for the living room. I'm wanting to use my older computer components to run various games on it (ie FEAR, COD, etc). Can I run it at 1680x1050 and will it look alright? Of course when I try to run my monitor at this rez instead of 1920x1080 it looks like crap. But a TV? Specs of computer will be

e5200 oced to 3.4
4 gigs ram
4850 (oced)

nothing but the native res is going to look good, this is true for all LCD's TV or otherwise. Just get enough GPU power to run 1080P.

It will look bad. You will get black bars on the sides when playing 1680x1050 on a 1920x1080 screen (stretch+keep aspect). Unless you fully stretch the image (even worse quality then).

However, FEAR and COD games should run fine on a HD4850 at 1920x1080. Those games aren't really that taxing.
