Me and a few internet buds were hoping to meet up somewhere near Milwaukee or Chicago... but don't want to play in some run down building with 9 computers in total...There used to be a nice gaming center a few miles out of Milwaukee but they closed down pretty recently...

Anyone know of a really nice center around these two areas? I've been googling but can't find anything within two states out of Wisconsin or Illinois..

bumping 2 1/2 year old thread to post a link to a business = spam.

maybe you guys can rent out a small conference room at a hotel or something of that nature ... plenty of those in chicago. Just need to bring a router and power strips.

We'd rather not drive for hours to go to some conference room. We're looking for an actual lan center...

I know you've already given up and I'm too late, but maybe a cyber cafe will fit your needs?

I remember there used to be a place with about 20 machines in 1996 in Des Plaines, IL. They had a whole fleet of P2 machines with Monster 3D cards connected to 27inch TVs (running 640x480 or 800x600) with keyboards, mouses, joysticks, and gaming pads by each machine, as well as 20 or 30 games and at least 4 copies of all of them.

A friend got a part time job there in HS, and the owner would let him rent the place out overnight to groups of 7 or 8 of us for Lan Parties to play Duke3d and Doom2. The place went out of business after being open for less than 1 year though.

Otherwise, if one of your friends has a nice open Basement, then have the lan at his place ...
Hell, I used to have 4 person lans for Total Annihilation all the time back when I lived at my moms house ... I had a 12 person lan at my crappy 1000sq foot Townhouse a couple of years ago ...
And I'm in the process of refinishing my basement right now (framing a new wall, demoing 3 walls, removed paneling, replacing some water damaged drywall, drycore, carpet, 2 raised platforms, projector .... tis a big project, and it won't be as fancy as anands ... but I'll have a nice home theater/lan party room with ample room for up to 12 people .... (as well as room upstairs in my living room and office and dining area for another 8 more if needed)

There's a LAN center in Naperville, IL... I don't remember the name but it's next to a bar named Pepe's that I go to sometimes. It's on Chicago Ave somewhere between Naper Blvd and St. Charles ave.

I wonder why, I mean it'd seem like a good business if it were located in the right place... say near a university or a metropolitan area.

Relatively few people are interested in going to a LAN party - they would prefer just playing online.

I'm in Madison and all the LAN places around here have been closed for years. If you do find somewhere to go, I know a few locals who'd probably jump at the chance to go to a LAN with more than four people.
