Hello guys and girls,

Unfortunately, my 1TB external drive is almost full (100GB free space) and I would like to buy a 1 or 1.5TB internal drive for in my new PC.

I'm thinking of this:
Seagate ST31500341AS 1.5TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB Cache - OEM

It costs £100.00 inc. VAT in the UK.

I will be using the drive for general storage (the OS will be on a 60GB OCZ Vertex).

I'm looking for something with reasonable performance for the price.

Does any one have any experience of this drive (since it seems to have had mixed reviews on the 'Net) or suggest a suitable alternative for similar £/GB (please also include links to a UK shop, if possible).

Thanks for the help,

I have this HDD for ~6 months and I like it. I never had any problems with it.

I just ordered a couple more of those actually, against my better judgement too. (Have one; it's been good thus far.)

There have been an insane number of bad 1.5 TB WD & Seagate drives if you look at user reviews in general, far greater than with any 1 TB drive...don't know why, but it's pretty ridiculous.

That said, per GB, that 1.5 TB is generally a really good deal, at least here in Canada...

The two 1 TBs i'd suggest are the WD Black & Samsung F1 if you want performance.
If you're looking for storage mainly, any of the 1+ TB drives will suffice.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for this late reply from me; our ISP was down yesterday.

I've placed the order for the 1.5TB Seagate hard drive. Hopefully, it won't be DOA.
