Can anyone recommend me any good laptops along these lines:
Centrino Processor, NOT a widescreen display, 15" Preferred (14" ok) with standard reolutions like 1024X768 or 1280X1024 (Higher res, the better!) 🙂, a real video card like a Radeon 9600 Pro or Nvidia Geoforce Go card (no integrated graphics), has to have at least 64Megs of video memory that is dedicated, touch pad mouse, good battery life (assuming this isn't a desktop replacement).
Oh one more note, please no Toshiba's because I've had bad experiences with them and does anyone know of the Dell Laptop screen issue where images look distorted even when screen is set at standard resolutions?

I tried the geforce 2go, its dont going to drive doom3 so dont expect that much.. i had a g2g 5200 and it did not drive cs well either.. switched to a 5650 w/128mb and cs was smoother..

almost all lcd will have text distoration when switch out of native resolution, i got dell and it looks like crap in any other resolution

Re: the distrotion of Dell screens its actually the dpi that makes it look funky. You have to change it back to like 92.

Yea for example I have a PCG F480 Sony Vaio laptop and it's has poor battery life/performance not to mention stability problems but one of the biggest plus' is that it has the most Beautiful screen I have ever seen on a laptop. 15" 1024X768 (average but good), images look like the way they are meant to be seen, so crisp I can see distortions on Vaio's Desktop wallpaper so I fix it in Photoshop (Love the wall paper). But anyways I'm essentially looking for a laptop with the specs listed above but a screen that displays things correctly. For example my sister has a Dell 600M and when she was looking at one of her graphics, she noticed it looked strange and was getting paranoid very quickly, so she sent me the picture to my system and the distortion was gone. This is where I found out that the dell laptops are screwwy which is why now I'm trying to avoid them (I was the one to acutally recommend the laptop!). Is it just me or has this Dell thing only started to happen recently, because I've used older dell laptops and were wonderful so which is why I recommened it.

You have to set the DPI to 96 in the video settings. Trust me, this has been talked about numerous amounts of times at other forums.

changed the DPI settings numeous times, still doesnt fix the jaggies in her picture. I think dell laptops are bad for graphic artist's period, well atleast the 600M is. Like I said, when she sent this picture to my laptop and other computers it didn't have the jaggies or other picture distortion. I changed the resolution hoping it would aleviate this problem but it didn't.
