Laptops without CD-DVD drives

Anyone own one and in retrospect wishes they didn't?
I like the idea of having something light, thin and portable, but just wondering if there are times where people wished they had a CD/DVD drive for whatever reason.
As well, most programs require them to install programs don't they or is there a workaround for it?

Any input, advice appreciated.

You can always get a USB optical drive for software installs. I've done software installs over the network using a shared optical drive on a separate machine. Not ideal, but it works. My netbook doesn't have an optical drive and I've never "missed" it.

I have, when I've wanted to reinstall Windows. It's hard to do that without an optical drive, unless you have a mobo that can boot off of a USB drive.

Just make sure you don't buy a External USB optical drive if you have a Laptop/netbook with Win 7 Starter :)
