laptops with 8800?

anyone have any idea of where I can get a convenient list of which brands/models are shipping with 8800's without having to check the different sellers individually?

Clevo has put one together - the rest are in the talking/planning stages.

8800

Alienware, Gateway, and Asus should also be checked.

I have seen no single comprehensive list yet.

In stock at BestBuy for $1350

Core 2 Duo 1.67GHz (worst part of the deal)
3GB RAM
250GB HDD (plus empty bay)
Geforce Go 8800M GTS "overclocked" according to Gateway
slot load DVDRW
17" widescreen
9 cell battery

Basically cheap and fast, except for CPU.

The Gateway seems to be Penryn compatible so you can upgrade in the future if necessary

learn something new every day. I thought notebook procs fell in the same non-upgradeable category as video cards.

Depends on how the notebook is manufactured; some laptops (especially Apple) have the CPU soldered to the motherboard so changing it is impossible. Most PC laptops have a socketed CPU so replacing is possbile

i read what the link had to say and it says the screen is 1280x800. so is the gateway (for $1350) that Zap recommended. is it common for 17" gaming laptops to come standard with such a low resolution or is it just for the cheaper ones? i figured they'd come with 1680x1050, at least. was my assumption wrong?

The Gateway listed above is actually 1440x900, 1280x800 is a misprint on the Best Buy website. As for the Clevo, I doubt the screen is below 1440x900

according to the thread at notebookreview.com that I read, its resolution is 1440 x 900 once all the drivers have been updated and whatnot.
