laptops? Toshiba s2800 or Compaq 12xl405? opinions?

Both are the same price $4000 NZ, both are celery 700's
The toshiba has 8x dvd.
Anyone got one? good/bad experiences?
Alternatives?

Very nice, played with one today, Only trouble is they are so expensive, 1/2 again the price for similar specs.

I find most Sony models pretty affordable. Love their design.
