Laptops & SETI as a service

Has anyone tried installing SETI as a service, then using Scheduled Tasks to start/stop the SETI service in Win2KPro?

If so, have you tried using the Power Management settings to NOT start the service if the laptop is running on batteries, and to STOP the service if it goes to battery power?

Do those settings actually work?

If so, that might provide some opportunities for me to assimilate a few more ships. 🙂

First off I have not done this, but it should work, just set the service to start manually, then use the task scheduler to start task, and have it stop task if running on batteries. The real question is the stop task.
Since you will probably be using something like net.exe to start the task, the computer might try to kill net.exe and that would of course leave the seti service still running.

Oh, and these setting do work in battery mode.

I haven't tried to do that but I should.🙂 My laptop isn't running SETI right now but once that MTR comes around I'll be looking for a good way to run it on the laptop.
