I'm thinking of picking up a Thinkpad T30 1.9/256/20gb
I have no idea how good this is with gaming though... I'm not buying one primarily for gaming, but it's nice to know if it's capable. Anyway, what are you experiences with laptops and gaming?

It seems to be a general choice between power and battery life.

The "laptop" laptops are based on battery conservation and slow
The "desktop" laptops are rigged with the latest and fastest stuff, with low battery life.

There doesn't seem t be much in between.

Well it got a 16mb. Radeon 7500, so don't expect to much. 3dmark scores and review - warning in norwegian but you can get a sense of it's 3d capabilities.

If you need something faster (in 3d) look for something with the Radeon 9000 in it, T40 or Dell Inspiron 600m both are Centrino laptops, which you aught to check out.

I really prefer gaming on a desktop, it feels so cramped with a laptop. Although you could put the notebook up on a stand and only use it as a monitor and then pley with external keyboard and mouse...then it gets alot better imo (did it make any sense?).

check out the laptops made by Sager for a good desktop-replacement. Sagerforums is dedicated to talking about that line of lappies (they are the ones that alienware uses).
