I am sick of my Compaq Presario 2571US. It's noisy and also produces lots of heat. I am ready for something better.

Any recommendations on a light weight laptop that does weigh a ton, is not as noisy and does not produce that much heat? I am looking at 6 lbs or less and a 14 inch screen size. If possible I want a 5400 RPM hard drive as an option.

What is everyone using out there?

if you've got the dough, an IBM T40 or T41 should fit your bill.. 4.9 lbs, one of the lightest and most noiseless thin-and-lights out there!

You'll want a laptop with the Pentium-M chip. Luckily, there are MANY of them out there, so you wont have a problem at all.

Yeah, that would be nice but that is a little bit out of my league.

I am looking at something around $2,000 +- a little bit. The old one is just a little more than 7 months old.

1 GB RAM, 80 GB disk 2.4 GHZ P4 - haven't made up my mind how much it would be worth.

Will do. I probably can tell more in a week or so - I need to do my taxes first. Then I know how much $$$ I can spend.
