only money looks to be the xbox, the screen, and whatever he paid the aluminum shop guys. Circuit components are so cheap that they are basically free.

I wouldn't be surprised if this project was on a sub 1k budget.

unless he struck a great deal, the milling and fabrication of that enclosure would easily run $300. That was some pretty precise work.
