I have a Asus X602C that won't recognize my Nexus 5 when I plug it into the USSB 2 or 3 ports anymore, it did connect in the past. When I plug it into my son's desktop it recognizes it. I use the Asus supplied cable. It does charge the phone. I'm using Windows 10 My USB wireless mouse and external DVD drive work fine

What OS? Any driver updates (and don't forget to check for any through Windows Update as well)?

Do you get a charm when you plug the device in? And if so, do you see the device listed in device manager (under USB controllers)?

nothing pings, the phone lights up but that's all. It doesn't show up in device manager.

When i had Win7Pro on my ASUS G73JH it would not accept my Samsung Galaxy III Phone. Now with Win10 it will accept both the Samsung Galaxy III and my Apple iPhone6.

Oh well. Maybe Microsoft will release a software update for this, or you can find a solution on another forum, such as the ones I linked.

Are you sure that your USB cable is still in good and working condition? Are there any drivers that you need to install for your PC to recognize your phone?

So here is a list:
- check your cable (you did at son's laptop)
- update drivers: windows update and drivers for USB ports
- check for in device manager if your USB port ( connected device is on the list )
- reinstall all related drivers
- try a different usb port
