I have an electrovaya sc2100 tablet.

Device manager says it has Realtek AC97 sound.
I tried updating the drivers to the latest A406, and it would BSoD with portcls error upon installation.
I was able to download old working drivers off electrovaya's website. The drivers are dated 2003 so they're quite old, but seem to be the only ones that work. I tried A397 drivers too.

I have the control panel installed too. I even tried selecting headphone mode on the control panel, but it does nothing.
Any ideas?

There really isn't anything you can do about that. If the headphone jack is the correct kind and connected correctly inside the laptop then it would do it. The headphone jack has a switch in it that cuts the speaker sound when headphones are plugged in. So if that switch doesn't work on the connection for that switch isn't connected then it doesn't cut the speakers. If the laptop ios under warenty you may want to have it checked out if its a big deal for you. Otherwise turn down the speakers.
