laptop wont connect to the internet

My mothers new laptop wont connect to the internet anymore. she just bought it yesturday brought it home we charged it I got it on our wireless network and it was working just fine with the internet and everything else. I went to work last night and i got a call from mom telling me that she was deleting icons on the desktop that she will never use and now it wont connect to the net. rebooting did nothing. it is still connecting to the network but when she tries using IE it gives the message saying the server can not be reached no matter what site she tries accessing. I have tried using a cable and plugging the laptop dirctly into the cable modem but the same results occur. any suggestions on what may be happening here?

Go to Control Panel/internet options/connections.......run setup for internet connection again.

alright I gave that a wurl. it told me at the end that my broadband connection is already configured and if it still does not work I should click on a help link. the help link tells me its a problem with my cable modem although i know its not because the other two computers work just fine. is there a way to perhaps force it to resetup the connection?

from a command prompt in the winnt/system32 directory run:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

see what happens
