Laptop with WinME is unable to get online or browse network

Hey guys. I just installed WindowsME on my IBM Thinkpad600. Windows is fine, but I can't get it to access the internet or browse my home network. I have the laptop going from the PCMCIA NIC to a router, where I have two other WindowsXP computers on. The NIC is a 3Com Etherlink III LAN PC Card (3C589C). I have tried downloading updated drivers from 3Com's site, but that didn't help. Is there something that I haven't configured? I have TCP/IP, File and Printer Sharing, Internet Connection Sharing, Microsoft Virtual Private Networking Adapter installed. WindowsME set all this up. Is there anything that's causing me not to be able to go online or access my network? Workgroup is all set to MSHOME, by the way. Thanks in advance.

Good morning, any ideas? My two other desktop computers are hooked up to the router and work fine. They're both set up for DHCP.
