I’m looking at a laptop with a RTX 2060 card, it will be hooked up to an external monitor much of the time (2K).

I was looking mainly at the Lenovo Y540, and the Alienware M15 (first gen). Both have the i7-9750H and 16GB ram, and I like both of their designs. They are around $1300 shipped what I found online in the above spec.

My question is, does anyone have experience with both? Mainly about thermals, I read the Alienware M15 has some thermal issues with the keyboard heating up on the right (metal casing).
Also, will the RTX 2070 generate more heat? It’s around $300 more for a laptop with an RTX 2070 compared to a RTX 2060 laptop.

Thanks

If you really want to use real time ray tracing... I'd suggest following BrownLuther007's suggestion and go for the upcoming Super RTX cards.

if real time ray tracing is not that important to you and you'd like a smaller lighter laptop that is both a capable gaming and productivity machine look at the laptop that Herr Kutz suggested.

Here are a couple of videos about the AMD 4900 HS chip that is in it. it's a beast.

the new AMD mobile chips make finally make AMD a contender to be taken seriously for laptops.
