Laptop with Intel Core i7 6700HQ, wanna try the onboard...

I recently picked up a Lenovo Y700 laptop with an Intel Core i7 6700HQ. The laptop uses an nvidia 960m and according to the specs it also uses the intel hd530. I know my games run and look great but I would like to see how the CPU graphics look. How can I do this? Nothing in bios shows any option. Do I disable the nvidia in device mgmt?

They will tend to look the same, it's just the speed with which they're rendered that will be an issue.

Some of those laptops will pick one or the other GPU depending on load, but I'm not sure what the secret sauce is to force yourself to use one vs. the other.

I'm very sure you can use the Nvidia driver settings to prefer the Intel integrated GPU or the 960m just not sure if the setting will be overriden once the framerates drop below a certain threshhold.

As I recall I have it set to prefer the Nvidia gpu. I've only opened the nvidia settings a couple of times on the laptop with switchable graphics.

found a youtube.com link that looks very much like how I changed the settings even though it's a few years old.

one made on an Alienware laptop but the same principles should apply

hope that turns out to work well for you.
