What's a good business laptop with good vertical resolution, meaning in the 1000px and up range, and a docking mechanism?

Many laptops these days offer such crappy screens.

You are confusing a LCD's aspect ratio with resolution. A letterbox or wide screen format will have a smaller number for vertical pixels than an old 4:3 screen. That does not necessarily change the resolution of the displayed image. That will depend more on the image's own aspect ratio.

What you apparently want is a business laptop with a vertical number of pixels in excess of 1000. To really find that, you need to specify what size screen you are willing to tote around.

A good option to meet your criterion would be the Lenovo W510 with a 15.6-in LCD at 1920x1080 pixels. There is a dock port as well.

Thanks for the input. Looking for something in the 15" range.

BTW, I am not confused. I am aware of aspect ratios. I am asking specifically for decent vertical resolution because I am annoyed by the recent rash of cost-cutting, low-resolution laptops that make web-based apps and business software difficult to use. It's been pretty hard to find a reasonably-priced laptop that doesn't feel like a throwback to older resolutions circa 2000.
