Laptop with dvi out

I just bought a dell 2405 and my inspiron 8500 can't be upgraded to dvi. What dells have dvi video out or another reliable workhorse that could drive this lcd digitally. Thanks.

Signal is still analogue and not digital. The difference being it is connecting using the DVI connector.

You can't convert VGA to DVI... well not in any useful way. VGA only carries analog video. DVI can carry analog and digital video (and in some cases, composite and S-Video). Most people use DVI for its digital video abilities. Using DVI for analog is no better than useing VGA for analog.

Most good laptops have DVI these days anyway. Only the bargain laptops use VGA.

Depends. Does he **NEED** digital video output? If so his only real options are a new laptop or try to find a CardBus video card with a DVI dongle, if such a thing exists.

how else would he be able to use his dell lcd? it only has dvi i think

uhhh if you bothered to search for yourself, the Dell site says it has:
  • 15-Pin D-Sub
  • 24-Pin DVI-D
  • S-Video
  • Composite Video
  • Component Video
