As long as I am in a Sprint PCS cell/area, I can connect to the Internet with my PCS phone. But! It requires more than a cable. It requires Spring WAN software, and it also requires that your cellphone be able to access the Internet on its own w/o the laptop. I tried just using the phone as a modem - same cable (phone to USB) but that was a non-starter. The connect speed on the Sprint WAN is better than dial-up - it is about 144 kbps.

But, you have to be in a domestic cell to do it - at least with Sprint.

Check with your phone host as to how they do it - each is a bit different.

No, I don't think so. What I am using is SprintPCS Connection Manager ver. 2.01.014. Never heard of #777. What's that all about?

#777 is the code to enter when using sprint's unlimited vision to access the internet. you can buy cables to connect a cell to a PDA or laptop and get 144kbps download speeds without using your minutes.
