Inspiron 8600
Dell Wirelss 1350

I recently formatted, and since then I havn't been able to get my laptop wireless to work again. I can see other networks, but I can't connect to them. I end up getting "Status: Limited or no connectivity", and then I get a garbage 168 ip.

I already tried the latest drivers, and older drivers. What else can I do?

Actually you get a 169 IP. 169.254.x.x But anyway, are you sending but not receiving packets? Double click the icon in the taskbar to get the status. If so then properly configure WEP or WPA.

i'm sending packets, but recieving none. i'm trying to connect to an open-unsecure network, so WEP/WPA isn't an issue.

i already tried the winsock xp fix, and that didn't help either.

If your sending but not receiving then WEP is the issue, regardless of what you've done so far. That means your associated to the AP but no data is passing downstream.

I do not know what you mean by I can see the ?Other Networks?.

If your card sense Wireless Networks and can not connect to them it means that the card is Not configured correctly to access the Network.

If it is your network use the instructions in my previous posted links.

If the ?other Networks? do not belong to you then you can not and should not connect.

If they are publicly available network you ask for the LogOn parameters.

It's my university's wireless network. I've even tried connecting to other routers that are owned by friends, and I can't connect to those either. Therefore, the problem is not the configuration of my univ's APs, or my friend's router. I've already tried the things in the first link, the second link is for the routers/APs... and i dont have access to change the settings on those.
