More explanation needed. I have had laptops since 1992 - now on my 6th. The last three have had USB ports, and run on Windows XP Pro. I have never had such a problem or heard of one. ???

Are you inferring that a USB device draws battery power when the laptop is off?

its only a core laptop issue but if you want more help you need to be more descriptive on what you have

i got a dual core laptop
t2500 2.0ghz
2gb ddr2 667mhz
xp pro
100 gb sata hdd

and currently hav a usb mouse connected to it

OK - I have an ordinary P4 mobile laptop, and I have 6 USB devices connected and all but the mouse are powered by an external powered hub. I see no drainage of the laptop battery to the mouse. Unless it is moved it is inert. And when the laptop is OFF - there is no power to any of the ports.

He's refering to this issue which may require a bios update to address. No generic resolution (AFAIK) is available yet.
