Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire 3003LC that's will not turn on. I'm thinking it's the battery is dead, but I don't have another battery to test it with. The plug with which it charges has a green LED that is on. Could it be something other than the battery that's gone and is there any way of me testing the battery is taking charge?

Thanks
Steve

When you plug in the power adapter to the laptop, do you see any LED indicating charge to the battery? If not, my guess is your feeling on the battery is correct. You can also take a cheap voltmeter and test the power adapter to make sure its putting out the appropriate voltage. You might get lucky and maybe its not and your only problem is the AC adapter. If the adapter is putting out voltage, you might have a motherboard problem. I just worked on a machine for a customer of mine recently with this issue. Good AC adapter, putting out voltage, but the machine just would not see the power at all. Motherboard was bad. She didn't fix it, was more than she wanted to spend. Good luck.
