Laptop Warranties

It's really important for me to buy a laptop with a good waranty, because
they all break so easily. I bought a refurbished thinkpad a few years ago
that came with a stellar "ez-serv" warranty. I'm now having a much harder
time finding refurbished thinkpads with that same warranty. Instead, many
carry a "Mack" warranty, which is much worse. To give you an idea of the
difference, here is how the ez-serv warranty worked: The LCD on our
laptop broke, and we called up IBM. 1 day later, we recieved a DHL box to
ship them our laptop. 2 days later, we recieved the laptop back with a
brand new LCD on it.

With the Mack Warranty, if the laptop breaks, I ship the laptop to Mack
myself. They decide if it's a manufacturer defect, and if it is, I should
expect the laptop back probably within 20 days, and I pay for shipping
both ways.

I assume apple products have good warranties. I'm looking for a low end
laptop though, and cheap. Any suggestions for where I find this with a
good warranty?

I would expect most warranties to be like the second one you mentioned. The first one gave you outstanding service. I wouldn't expect that too often with any warranty. Anything i've ever had to get "warrantied"/RMA, i've had to pay at least shipping to the location i'm sending it.

also almost 99% of warranty only covers year 1 battery, even if you buy 3 year warranty..

Yep, thats why we only get thinkpads. Ez-serve is the best. And batteries have a short warranty because they usually only last a year. Depends on how much you actually use the battery. Thats how most companies make a good chunk of money, by selling replacement batteries at ridiculous prices.

Gold Warranty for Dell works the same way. They ship you a replacement, and then you use that box and label to ship back. End of story, you don't have to worry about anything else.
