Someone here knows this I'm sure. Yeah, it's on topic, sue me and feed me to the pigeon staring me down across the way..

Anyhoo my laptop w/xp has started defaulting to the dialup connection rather than the 802.11 connection and it can't connect to the intarweb. Tried ipconfig /release, that doesn't work.

Suggestions?

ya

make sure you have the wireless connection up. it's defaulting to dialup because your wireless isn't configured correctly.

I'm not on XP right now, but as I recall go into Tools/Options and click the Connections tab. Check (or uncheck) the box that says to dial for a connection.

Hope it helps.

Go into control panel - administrative tools and open up the services applet. Right click on the "Remote Access Auto Connection Manager" service and change it to manual start.
