Hello All,
I had a co-worker ask me this question: He has a Dell 640? laptop running Windows XP. When the laptop is in the docking station he uses a Logitech mouse-He wants to use the extra buttons so he installs the mouse drivers and all is fine.
Now he un-docks the laptop and uses the Touch pad except the laptop still thinks it is a logitech.
Shouldn't XP tell the difference between the two and load the proper drivers? Or can he have two profiles-one for each?
TIA

The touchscreen is seen as a PS2 device in my Dell C600. The only thing I can think of is he needs to shutdown prior to removing the laptop from the docking station and reboot. It should sense the change/difference.

PS2 devices are not hot swappable like USB is. They need to be initiated in the BIOS for the OS to find them.

Try what I suggested and let us know how it works.
