LAPtop vs LABtop...which is it?

I have always said and thought it was laptop, but every now and again people say labtop. are they wrong? I for one think that is is laptop...

Check eBay... there are lots of auctions for labtop computers. Lots more for laptop, and some people even put both in the auction title for those dufuses (dufii?) who think it's a labtop.

Really, how would "labtop" even make sense? A workbench in a lab isn't called a "lab", it's called a "workbench" or a "desk" or even a "table."

Also the whole bit about how everything refers to them as "laptops" in text.
