Laptop video cards

I've got a Dell Latitude CPx J650GT laptop that's had issues with the onboard video memory since I've bought it used 2 years ago. Looking through Ebay I'm seeing some older video chipsets that I've been wondering if they would work with my laptop pending if the laptop had an expansion port for it. Would any one be able to shine some light on this for me?

Nope, not doable. Not even worth spending time researching. Especially if your laptop has an integrated GPU. Now if your laptop had a dedicated GPU you might be able to replace that GPU with one from the same era.

So basically no, you cannot upgrade your GPU,

Gotcha. I wasn't really looking to upgrade. I just wanted something where the video card memory wasn't on its way out like how it is now.

well if its integrated into the motherboard.. only solution would be to replace the whole motherboard

I was hoping it wouldn't come to that. I can't say I've stumbled across a new one online and I don't want the same issue I have now down the road buying used.

depending on the cost and labor, it might not be worth the time and effort to repair it.

unless its somehow still under warranty

I'd be the one pulling it apart. It wouldn't be a total loss if I screwed something up since I've had it 2 years and only paid $80 for it. Now if only the motherboards I see didn't cost almost that.

Edit: I stand corrected. I guess $30 isn't horrible off of Ebay to give it a little more life.

The CPXj isn't really integrated graphics but you're not able to separate/upgrade it nonetheless. How do you know it's not the screen instead? What kind of issues do you have?
