i want to get a laptop at some point. is there a website that compares the different companies? like ibm, dell, hp, sony, alienware etc?

like ibm is great but expensive. dell is good? sony is great but expensive. alienware is super expensive. any sites rate the quality of the components?

something like consumer reports, but more for "geeks."

i just want to know the pros and cons of each company: a laptop faq. anyone know any other good laptop vendors?
 
PCWorld and PCMag both do annual surveys for vendor reliability and service & support.

In my experience, IBM has excellent notebooks (ThinkPad T and X series are my favorites) and excellent tech support.

Dell has good prices and deals, but their tech support has gone down the tubes.
