I'm just wondering if there is any neat little device that i could use with these ports. I notice that they are mainly intended for networking. THe laptop i'm going to get has ethernet and wifi so i won't be using PCMCIA for that. Of all of the laptops i have owned, i have nver used these slots before, so i was wondering what people use them for.

you can put a usb/firewire cardbus ports into it. Wireless and internet NIC adapters also work. Google it.

What do you want to do? There's all kinds of stuff- CF card reader, GPS, Audigy (if you want better sound for gaming), bluetooth, GPRS (wireless data over GSM. expensive and slow, but works anywhere with a cell signal).

a tv tuner is pretty cool. but GPS man, c'mon.
You can use a TV tuner in one place, your living room where the cable is. it's not too useful when you are somewhere with your laptop though. besides, i use my desktop as my PVR, so the TV on the computer novelty has worn off.
