I am trying to find a reliable laptop for under $400 for a friend. He is in his 50's and really just would like something that can use microsoft office, type emails and maybe other light stuff. I was looking at netbooks but they dont come with CD-ROMs really. I am trying to get something that you can use with little difficulty as he isnt that computer savvy.

Can anyone help....

HP Probook 4530s (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-HP-ProBook-4530s-Notebook.56747.0.html) sometimes is on sale for around $425, and I think it has been as low as $375 shipped brand new previously on eBay (Tiger Direct).

Something in the HP G7 series of 17 inch consumer series notebook often comes in around that $400 price point too.

I think text might bel be slightly larger on the 15.6 screen because of slightly greater pixel density (http://tvcalculator.com/index.html?45ebb4c083cfb8b6d4d7ebc6eb97f1bb).

Your friend's need is very basic, in fact, a laptop under 300 also can satisfy these need well.

Lenovo makes great "budget" laptops at the 15.6 inch level. I like Yazoo's suggestion.
