laptop typing numbers when i push letters... what the heck?

Well i was using my PC like normal today. didnt download anything. all of a sudden when i type letters into the keyboard numbers show up instead.

i even restarted and it didnt help. any ideas what's going on here? i have the latest norton with all updates and i did not even download anything... what the heck!

Do you by any chance have the numlock on? Those numbers that are on the letters are activated when that is on. Or does any letter you type become a number...?
