Laptop TV out issues

So I hooked my laptop upto my TV via a S video cable. The display "works". The TV shows exactly what my laptop screen has one it, except when I play a video.

The box is there on the TV yet there is no video conent, it is all black. No problems on the laptop.

This happens with both DVDs and with Divx movies I have on the hard drive. What's going on?
