Ok my original A/C adaptor has been acting up like crazy the past few months... Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't... If you grabbed it and shook it around it would kick back in and power/charge the laptop fine.

A week ago the laptop wouldn't power at all. I had the a/c plugged in, the little panel on the keyboard that shows the battery/caps lock/etc showed it was plugged into the a/c but it would not power. i unplugged the A/C adaptor and it powered right up on battery power. While it was booting I plugged the A/C adaptor in and it would completely shut off the laptop. As if I removed all power from it. I assumed it was the A/C adaptor and ordered a universal IGo Juice off ebay.

Well the IGo came in today and it's doing the same thing... As long as it's on battery only it can boot fine, as soon as I plug in the A/C adaptor it shuts the power off

What could be causing this... The battery isn't charged enough to completely boot into windows, and leaving the charger on for a few hours doesn't charge the battery at all. It appears to be an internal problem with my laptop.

What can I do to fix this?

There probably isnt much you can do if you dont want to open it up. Do you have any warranty left? Maybe just try calling their tech support and see if they have seen this before, but it seems like there is a short in the ac plug inside your laptop.

pulled off the cover over where the a/c adaptor plugs in, there are a few screws missing like someone was in there before :( i did buy it used *shrugs*

not really sure what to look for, don't see anything obvious... i see where the connector is soldered to the board but it's real tight
