Laptop to TV question?

Hey all

My friend has a fairly new laptop, it has an AMD A6 apu in it. He was wanting to hook it up to a 32inch flatscreen so he could watch Netflix and such on the tv.
Would it be as simple as running an HDMI cable from the laptop's port to the TV's? The laptop doesn't have a DVI out, just HDMI

Any software or odd things that would need to be tweaked?

thanks

That's all I did when I visited my parents last month and I had never used a laptop with a TV. Just plugged a HDMI cable into my laptop and into the HDMI 2 port of their TV. Selected HDMI 2 input in the TV menu and voilà!, there's a movie playing at 1920x1200. 🙂

Yup, a hdmi cable will do it.

Once you have the hdmi cable connected, if you have Windows 7, press the "Windows Key + P" on your keyboard to bring up a menu to select between displays.

Couple of things

1) How you switch the sound between the speakers and the HDMI cable might not be obvious. Right click on speaker, select "playback devices". A box opens, right click on where you want the sound to go, for example the HDMI port, select "Set as default device".

2) You might want a wireless keyboard with a trackball or touch pad so you can just leave the laptop closed by the TV.
