Laptop to ide converter/adaptor?

I have a busted laptop, and i want to get the files off the hard drive. Is there a adaptor i can use to put this on an ide channel?

they're also carried by www.compgeeks.com and maybe Newegg (havene't checked). You could also get an external USB housing (from compgeeks or newegg) instead, and use the HD for backups after you finish grabbing the data.

Yes, Compusa has some. My dad bought some recently to move from his 4gb lappy hdd to a 20gb IBM lappy hdd.

Watch out that the computer doesn't have an propietary connection like my Dell laptop does apparently.

Not true!!
Dell laptop uses standard hard drive with plugin adapter for easy HD removal.
Just pull adapter out and you will be able to use it.

I have Dell laptops and did it many times.
