Will pretty much any of the new laptops (Ryzen 5 2500U or Intel 8th gen) do 4K output via HDMI? None of the specs I see on product pages list anything except the laptop screen res= 1920x1080. Will it need a dedicated video card to do 4K?

Yes. HDMI 2.0 (which Raven Ridge [Ryzen 2*00U] and Coffee Lake [Core 8**0U] support) will do 4k at 60hz.

From what I've read, the problem is with the HDMI spec. Most laptops still only have a 1.4 port. That will do 4K but only at 30fps. But, 30fps is fine for what we need which is 4K streaming from security cameras for demonstration purposes.

I'm also trying to purchase a laptop that can playback 4K video. Any brand/model I'd fine with me for the lowest price.
