Hey people. Ok, well i got this old laptop here, im typin this on it and theres quite a few weird things/problems with it. None of emm are good so ill just list the problems n stuff below.

http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/laptop/6480.htm <--- Some specs can be found here

1. The thing keeps cutting out even when its plugged into the wall, i reckoned it was because the processor was overheating or somthin. So i positioned the laptop so the lil fan underneath was not pressed against the table, its sorta held up off the table now by a few books giving the fan room to blow. (it never cut out before, only started doing this in the last year or so)

2. I installed speedfan to find out how bad things were, and idle its at 64*C which is bad for a laptop?? i dont kno i only know desktop stuff... it also tells me no fans are actually running. I can hear a fan though, and somthing IS blowing out of this vent underneath  Could it be that the laptop is too old to support the fan RPM checking feature of speedfan? Either way, why is it overheating if the cpu fan is still running??

3. This seems unrelated but its strange anyways, the laptop came with 128MB ram, its saying its only got 112MB, where did the other 16MB go?!

Ok yea, i looked up some stuff and it did go to onboard graphics. Do laptops need the dust taken outta emm? After 1 year i had to clean my A64 3200+ cuz temps were at the 60's. This laptop hasent EVER been cleaned in any way, its maybe aout 3 years old too. I did open up the part the fan was blowin outta and found what looked like a heatsink before. But i couldnt remove it :frown: laptop internals can be removed right??
