Hi,
I'm looking for a new laptop. I've been searching around the internet, but haven't yet found one that fit my needs exactly.
I don't need a powerhouse. This will be used mainly for light internet recreational purposes (playing poker, get your mind out of the gutter)
I could be asking for too much, but what I want is:

[*]15" screen or bigger with HIGH resolution capabilities(at least 1600x1200)
[*]LIGHT (and thin)
[*]built in 802.11g (is 802.11g Centrino available yet?)
[*]good battery life (is 802.11g Centrino available yet?)
[*](minor concern) doesn't get scorching hot on the bottom.

That's about it. It doesn't sound like too much to ask, but I haven't been able to find many laptops that come close to this.
The main problem is that nearly everytime I find a laptop with a 15" or bigger screen it weighs at least 6 pounds.

Thanks,
Johnny

If you want 15" or bigger screen you won't find anything under 6lbs. All the light ones have at most a 12" screen. Like the Toshiba Portege R100 is 12.1" 2.4lbs M100 4.2lbs.

What about 802.11g Centrinos? Do those exist yet? I fould dated articles saying they were going into production, but I can't find any laptops that impliment it yet.

Thanks.

That sager has 802.11G listed as a spec. You can get the add on card if the notebook you want doesn't have it integrated.

Alienware laptops are the best.

Yeah, also did you guys hear about the new technology that Alienware developed that allows us to swap mobile video cards without shipping it back to the manufacturer or even opening the whole laptop case? That's pretty cool.

All I can say is: SICK!!!

Alienware is far from the best, its mainly personal opinion anyhow. Furthermore, Alienware doesn't even make the laptops, nor does any other big brand. They are all re-branded oem motherboards from other companies merely put in a fancy little casing.

I personally think Alienware is garbage. My friends had 4, yes FOUR intakes on the bottom of his laptop making it impossible to use on your lap or flat surface,it always had to be propped up for airflow. not to mention it was anything but portable.
