Laptop streaming makes connection very slow. beyond normal?

laptop is streaming youtube at the other room while a desktop is turned on.

when im on my ps3 playing online it will always cancels my match in a middle of a game cause of unstable slow internet. I notice it happends whenever someone is streaming on the laptop.

this is beyond normal right? it should of been just slow but not unstable that cuts out the connection to my game on gaming console.

is there anything i can improve it? router setting? ect.... ?
 
What type of router is it? You may be overwhelming it.

What's connected wired and what's connected wireless?

- buffalo router
- cable broadband
- motorola surfboard modem

- ps3 connected via ethernet line
- desktop connected via ethernet line
- laptop connected via wireless

all 3 connected through same router.
