Hello;

Am going to buy a laptop and going to replace the hdd with an ssd just wanted to know do current laptops have a sata 3 or sata 2 connection and how can you know?

Thanks

No need to worry about it, just buy a SATA III SSD.
If you're buying a very thin laptop, make sure you get a 7mm thick SSD, as a thicker model may or may not physically fit.

SATA is backwards and forwards compatible, so the computer and drive will negotiate to the maximum common speed. You don't need to specifically hunt for an old 3 Gb/s drive just because you have a 3 Gb/s computer.

yeah but if current laptops have sata 3 connections and some have sata 2 connections. I rather try and get a laptop with sata 3 connection.

Don't buy an old or economy laptop.
Buy the latest and greatest and you'll get the speed you need.

There is no matrix with all models of laptops with their individual specifications.
