As you can see in a previous post, i'm quickly searching for a new laptop, but i'm overwhelmed with what's out there. For a basic, laptop (MS Office, music, and internet) what CPU (sempron, core 2 duo) and memory (512mb, 1GB) should i be looking for?

thanks!

Here

Configure that with a core solo processor and your set. I got the screen upgrade and imprint finish, but those are just cosmetic improvements. Its a very reasonably priced machine for what you get, and i couldnt be happier with mine.

The V3000 looks like a very nice laptop.

For what you need, almost any processor will do fine. I would, however, reccomend a Core Solo or Duo processor, or, if you want something a bit less expensive, a Turion or Celeron-M.

512mb of RAM is a nice starting point for basic work, and it's much cheaper (and very easy) to upgrade yourself, anyway.

On that note, I would reccomend at least 1 GB of RAM for smooth functioning. I went from 512 on my desktop to 2 GB on my new lappy and my lappy has NEVER crashed to date (I also have a sh!t load of programs running).
