Laptop speakers?

I need to get a portable set of speakers to go in the bag with my laptop. The little speaker in my laptop just doesn't cut it at all.

Anyone seen anything that would fit in a laptop bag and still has great quality?

I don't know of any high quality portable speakers, but you could buy a really nice set of headphones that might do the trick.

Yeah, I have a pretty nice set of headphones. The sound is good but the volume only goes so high. For example, I was trying to watch a movie on my laptop on a road trip while my buddy was driving and with just a little bit of road noise it was a little hard to hear all the dialogue.

Plus, with the number of mp3's i have on there it would be nice to make it a little jukebox.

Here's a link to a good Headphone Amp

I noticed you mentioned that you already have a "nice pair" of headphones. As an alternative, you might want to pickup a decent pair of compact headphones. These have excellent response, are very comfortable, and most importantly - they are extremely power-efficient (these will deliver 100 decibels of sound pressure from only 1mW!!!!). I can almost guarantee that you will get far more perceived volume from a set of high-quality compact headphones than from headphones intended for home use.

Hope this helps. Good luck! 🙂

Altec lansing used to make some speakres that kind of clipped onto a laptop. Don't remember if they needed external power or not, probably, but the wrapped around the back of the laptop somehow. I'll try to find the link.

you could always steal the little egg shapped speakers from an HP desktop, they seem to work fairly well.

just an idea

Thanks for the info on the headphones, i'm certainly going to check that out.

I found a couple pairs of speakers designed for laptops like this pair.

There's a Sony and Koss make some too. I have no idea what the quality is though.
