Laptop sound "stuttering" *SOLVED*

I just started having this problem recently where after playing something (the first 10 seconds or so are fine, regardless of what I play. If I restart the song, it sounds fine again. It happens with all differnet files ( I have tried many)

It happens if the sound is being played out of the speakers, or if I put on headphones and listen to them through that.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron 8500 notebook

Service Tag: CZ4M631

It uses a Sigmatel STAC 9750 AC97 sound card.

Anyone know what may be wrong with it? If there is any more information needed, pleas elet me know.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Tried different file players?

I have

Itunes, windows media player, winamp, and even watched DVD videos, and embedded videos in internet explorer.

Also, I have tried reinstalling the sound card drivers, which also did not improve the situation in any way.

It's actuall ymore of a "garbled" sound, than stuttering. You can hear the mnusic is playing fine in the background, it's almost as if teh garbling is overlaid. It is not anything in the sound track (like any type of pirating prevention) as it happens with all files (and all my music is legally owned 😉 )

You actually PAID for your music? :Q Philistine! 😀

Hmm, that is odd. I just reinstalled the driver and fiddled out with some weird quicktime setting, and now that I have rebooted it works fine.

I am not sure what did it, but I'll take it!

Thanks to everyone who took a look 🙂

It's nice when problems solve themselves. I was trying to think of something else for you to try, but it looked like you did pretty much all you could already.
