Laptop sound problems

heres my problem. If I plug in headphones to the green headphone jack on my laptop I only get sound from the left ear. If I position the connecter just right by pushing it all the way to the right and into all sorts of weird positions i can manage to get sound out of both ears but if i so much as touch the thing and send it back to its old position its back to just the left ear. It used to work fine up until a few days ago.

Is there any possible way to fix this other than to open up my laptop and see whats going on witht the headphone jack?

Any help would be appreciated!

ps. this is with all headphones and its not just a faulty pair!

Sounds like your headphone jack is loose - a poorly soldered connector to the board would do that, so it's rattling around.

The only way to fix it would sadly be to crack the case and see what's up. 😛
