I have a Dell Laptop with what ever sound card that came with it...I have the laptop hooked up to my car stereo so I can play music files through it - Only problem is there is some distortion, I know files like mp3's arn't perfect but I can tell the difference between their distortion and the distortion of the soundcard - where can I get a new one and how much will it cost me

Laptop soundcards are not replaceable.

If you wanted another soundcard, you would need to get a PCMCIA card. PCMCIA soundcards are much harder to get now that most laptops have sound. If you had asked this question about 6 years ago, you would be able to find more products...;)

Try turning down the volume on your laptop and cranking the volume of your car stereo. You might also wish to try the MAD Winamp plugin to improve sound quality.
