I have just bought a laptop as I am overseas. It is a compaq 2195, with an amd athlon 2500 and 512meg Of ram.
When I boot it up, the desktop opens, but it takes a couple of minutes for the welcome chime to play. Meanwhile, if I try and open something it takes ages, and the chime usaully plays before it will open. I think it may be related to my Norton antivirus as I had to uninstall and reinstall it. When I uninstalled it the chime played as soon as the desktop opened, but after I reinstalled it, it reverted back to the same problem. I have also tried disabling all programmes in the startup menu but this made no difference.
Please help as I need to use my laptop regilarly to keep in touch with my wife and children, and it is driving me insane!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
