Laptop shows a blank screen

I am unable to access the BIOS, I am unable to get to the boot menu, Startup disk method doesn't work, and when it does start up, all I get is a blank screen with the only thing I see is my mouse cursor. Help me please. I am using a laptop Compaq Presario 1200.
