Want:

Atleast 13" screensize
dedicated video adapter (Radeon x300 or faster)
Pentium M or Duo
Under $1.3k
About 5lbs

Here's what I found so far:

Toshiba M50 $1250, pm 2ghz, 14in, Radeon X600SE 4.98lbs

IBM T42 $1200, pm 1.7ghz, 14in, Radeon 9600 4.98lbs

HP NC6400 $1550, core duo 1.8ghz, 14in WS, Radeon X1300 4.68lbs

The HP is amazing, less than 5lbs with the radeon X1300 AND Duo Core. But outta range. Are there any other notebooks out there that I am missing? BTW Dell has nothing in this range.

If I was to get a laptop today, this is the one I would get. It has a Core Duo, 1GB of DDR2, 100GB Harddrive, ATI Radeon X1400 with 128MB of video memory, and various other features. It weights 6.6lbs. I simply have not seen a more perfect laptop for that price. You can just buy it as it is without needing to worry about upgrading. The price is also well within your price range.

Too heavy, plus I can get a Dell with similiar specs for less than ~$800 OTD with 300 off 1000 coupon and 35 off 300 coupoun. The dell weighs only 6.1lbs too. I need something that is 5LBS no more WITH dedicated video. Price range for this is basically $1.2k. Is there soemthing out there that meets my needs and should be on my list?

Thanks.

I really want the HP tho (~4.6LBS FTW), anyone know of a $300 off coupon code for it?🙂

I'm partial to the Tseries IBMs but admittedly don't have any experience with the HPs for reference.

IBM hands down. i own 4 and love them all

Have you owned the new Lenova's? I heard they were made in china and just badged with the IBM label. Is that quality on par with the original T series? Hows the LCD? Both the toshiba and HP have glossy Xbrite screen (which I like).

I have yet to use a T series notebook but heard great reviews about them. One of my classmates own a Toshiba M50 but with onboard video, it feels very sturdy, pretty light and high quality. (doesnt have that cheap plastic feel my Dell Latitude D800 has)
