I am not big on service plans with the exception of laptops. The last laptop I bought an it was an Acer AS3810 and it has been nothing but trouble starting right after the warrantee expired.

I am thinking of buying a new laptop and I was wondering which service plan is best.

Does anyone know anything about the service plan that Newegg uses? They use Service Net https://www.myserviceplan.com/

I'm far more in favor of manufacturer based extended warranties instead of some kind of third party. However, in any event, always, always, ALWAYS read the fine print. Then read it again. Read it a third time just for good measure, and don't be afraid to read it a fourth, fifth, or more times. Make sure you understand just what the plan DOES NOT cover, if there are any restrictions on it (most third party warranty systems are closer to insurance policies than warranties) like a maximum amount they'll pay for parts or maximum number of claims you can make. Things that are very important to know, but for obvious reasons these companies are keen to bury somewhere that most people will never bother to read until it's too late.

Well Scott since you are an ASUS man how are the ASUS extended warrantees. I buy ASUS exclusively for PC Motherboards.

Well alternatively, I was thinking of getting a Dell with an extended warrantee through Dell. Yeah they are not great but it beats some of the other plans out there.
